Safely Storing Technology

Unfortunately, iPads have been stolen from the camp before, including a theft of twelve iPads from a locked classroom. To reduce the risk of technology theft, please ensure that the following precautions are taking place:

  1. Do not allow campers to play with technology.
  2. When leaving technology in a room, lock the doors. If doors must remain open, move technology to an inconspicuous space.
  3. When possible, store and charge iPads in a place where they are NOT visible to someone looking in from outside (i.e. under desks and tables) and ideally behind two doors (i.e. classroom door and storage closet or middle room).
  4. Stolen iPads are a huge challenge due to lost camper work, and in the past have resulted in Site Administrators needing to file a police report and be on call to testify at trial. Save yourself the trouble by taking a few moments at the end of each day to secure the iPads (and Chromebooks where applicable) in a locked interior room or at a minimum in a non-visible area.
