Let us help you put your best foot forward by watching this brief video outlining how to write a great bio.
Here are a few examples from previous summers to get your creative juices flowing!

Christi Wilson, Camp Director
We are excited that Christi Wilson is returning for her third session at Adventures in Writing Camp, and second as Site Administrator. Christi teaches at Hunsberger elementary and is a credentialed 3/4th grade teacher of highly gifted students in Washoe County School District. She has eleven years of teaching experience and is looking forward to bringing her passion for teaching writing to campers. Christi has a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education and a Masters degree in Educational Leadership from University of Nevada, Reno. She also has earned an endorsement for teaching gifted children from the University of Phoenix. She has recently completed courses focused on integrating technology in the classroom and is excited to teach children how to publish their own stories with Adventures in Writing Camp.

Bonnie Carlson, Writing Ranger (Teacher)
“We will be exploring Writing in a unique way! Yes, Writing in a unique way! Please keep your hands and feet inside the writing at all times!! And here we go…”
Bonnie Carlson is the happiest third grade teacher in Washoe County School District, currently teaching at Double Diamond Elementary School!
She is returning for her second session of Adventures in Writing Camp, and is in her “lucky thirteenth” year of teaching overall. Bonnie absolutely loves all areas of teaching, particularly the way writing is a part of every subject! In addition to holding a Master’s Degree in Education from Lesley University in Boston, Massachusetts, a Dual Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education/Special Education from the University of Nevada, Reno, and her TESOL endorsement, Bonnie has also written lessons for Writing Fix.com (http://writingfix.com/6_Traits/Important_Thing_Trait_Rubrics.htm) as well as Social Studies Lessons for the school district as part of the Common Core State Standards exploration published on Edmodo. Writing is a passion for her—please “bug” her when she is writing—she would love to share!

Ranger Danny Haberman, Music Ranger
When Ranger Danny is not delighting and educating kids with music, he can usually be found in the forest serving as a park ranger. Ranger Danny is our first Music Ranger who was actually trained as a park ranger, and his stories from the mountains around Lake Tahoe (and other places) will provide ample fodder for story (and song!) creation. Ranger Danny was hand-selected by his friend Jonny D. Williams, who was your Writing Ranger at Hunsberger last summer.
Because of his unique skill-set as a musical, entertaining park ranger, Danny is often deployed into classrooms to educate students about the park system and the animals who live there. During the winter months, Danny also works at an after school program where he leads multiple music clubs, teaches guitar lessons, and occasionally, teaches kids how to rap battle.
Sierra Carlson, Adventure Guide (Counselor)
Sierra Carlson LOVES to read.
She also loves to have fun while learning. For example, Sierra put a unique spin on an open-ended final Biology project last semester by re-writing (and performing) songs from Disney’s Frozen to teach the rest of the class about different organelles in a cell.
Growing up, Sierra played at least six different instruments, and she loves performing. Sierra took tap dancing lessons in middle and high school, and we hope to persuade her to bust out some sweet moves at camp!
Sierra is an active tutor, and loves helping kids have fun learning new things. When she is not reading or helping inspire readers (and writers), Sierra is studying chemistry at Dominican University, where she has been on the Dean’s List both semesters of her college career. Sierra is a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta national honors society.
